This family-run roastery not only has one of the most eco-friendly and energy efficient roasters at its heart, it’s also stepped up its planet-friendly practices.
David and Ruth Elkington (aided and abetted by mini apprentices Erin, Betsy and goldendoodle Skye) are on a mission to reduce the amount of packaging associated with their business. Many bean-buying customers now take along their own containers, while wholesalers are supplied with sealed, reusable buckets in lieu of foil-lined paper bags.

Sound ethics are just one of the many good reasons to swing by the Malton roastery which is housed among a cluster of artisan food and drink businesses in the 18th century stable yard of Grade II-listed Talbot Hotel.
Be prepared to be dazzled by the huge selection of house-roasted single origins which can be sampled at the purpose-built bar as espresso or pourover. Those in the know arrive armed with empties so they can stock up on their favourites to brew at home.
