It was only natural that the team of leading speciality purveyors at Bath’s Colonna & Small’s would expand into the world of roasting.

Setting up Colonna Coffee on the outskirts of the city in 2015, the roastery specialises in showcasing seasonal, single origin and small lot beans in a stripped-back selection of coffees which changes every four to six weeks.

With no blends and only top grade coffees in the collection, Colonna beans are frequently found on guest spots at specialist cafes across the UK and Europe, often served using unique and exploratory brewing methods. Turning heads in the industry, Colonna continues to challenge the single serve capsule system’s corporate reputation with a game-changing range of speciality coffee pods. Not ones to sit still, the team have also dabbled in science this year, co-authoring academic papers on topics such as freezing beans and the effect of water on flavour.
